The diving is spectacular and challenging.  Explorer Ventures recommends that divers are experienced, and have been diving recently (within 6 months of the trip).  The water in the Galapagos is cool at this time of year - 65-70F, so will require thicker wetsuits (5mm w. Extra layers or 7mm).  There are strong currents that will necessitate divers wearing gloves or carrying reef hooks (to hook into the rock), and comfortable swimming skills (may need to swim against current at certain dive sites). Ocean Sports has worked with Explorer Ventures in the past and run 2 recent trips to the Galapagos - 2015 and 2016, on the Humboldt Explorer.  Our past experiences with them have been exceptional - the crew is top-notch and extremely safety-conscious.  Their briefings are very detailed and additional safety equipment is provided to all divers at Wolf and Darwin Islands (Dive Alert audible alarm, Nautilus GPS).  The food and accommodations were awesome and the whole experience was so amazing we couldn’t wait to go again and are thrilled to dive from the brand new Tiburon Explorer.
